Esri’s Collaboration with Jordan’s Yarmouk University

Fostering their experience in Higher Education

Dubai, UAE — 22 August 2021—Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, today announced their commitment for continuous support to Yarmouk University in Jordan. The University received advanced GIS products which helped to make teaching more time-efficient for educators, and learning more exciting for students (i.e., ArcGIS Pro, Collector, Survey123).

Aiming to prepare students for meaningful careers, Yarmouk University (YU) has been an avid user of Esri products since two decades. Esri’s inclusive packages are used by more than 500 students in the department of Geography, and the department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

“With a user friendly interface and great search capapilities, I’ve witnessed how Esri products have empowered my students through appropriate tools for spatial analysis tasks along the years. Online Apps offer help during field work in large groups capturing, organizing and analyzing data while using smart mobile devices. At YU, we are really fortunate to be using Esri products in our GIS Lab and applying them in solving real-life problems”, declared Rana N. Jawarneh, PhD, Department of Geography, Yarmouk University.

Via continuous support from InfoGraph, official Esri distributor in Jordan, Esri services allow the faculty, staff, and students to have a phenomenal experience in working with geospatial technologies. Esri updates have transformed the way of spatial thinking within the university.

According to Sohail Elabd – General Manager of Esri Middle East and Africa, “Esri will continue to help education institutions to find the right academic license for using GIS. This creates great learning environments and improves operations as we have done with Yarmouk University since the year 2000.”
